Weekly Update

17th September 2024

Message from the Headteacher

There is only one week to go until we host the extremely popular ‘International Week’. This annual event is a wonderful chance for students, especially those who are new to LGGS, to have fun, join in activities and foster new friendships. It also provides staff and students an opportunity to proudly celebrate diversity and gain an understanding of the different identities, beliefs and values which make up our school community.

Parents and carers are also invited to take part in ‘International Week’ by contributing to the Food Fair on Monday 23rd September. Details of what this entails will be shared later this week. Hopefully you will be enticed to join us.

Last week saw our talented musicians take part in the Lancaster Jazz Festival and you can find details of this below.

There are currently two job vacancies at LGGS within our Business and Computing Department and you will find further details below and also on our website.

International Week

LGGS’ inimitable International Week will be taking place from 23rd – 27th September. Students will be able to experience a host of cultural and linguistic delights, from Bollywood to Bachata, tortilla to tagine and Shakira to Stromae. There will be daily events in music, fashion and food. We invite parents and carers who wish to cook and assist in the running of a food stall for our Food Fair to join us during lunchtime on Monday 23rd September.

Further details about how to assist will be sent to parents and carers later this week.

LGGS at Lancaster Jazz Festival

Nineteen talented LGGS students took part in this year’s Lancaster Jazz Festival, which was held at Kanteena last Thursday evening. The festival offers students from local schools a valuable performance opportunity and LGGS students from Years 9-13 made us proud with their performance of 8 sets which were of an impressive standard and were very well received by the audience.
