Message from the Headteacher

Last week was another busy week with students engaging in a range of academic, cultural and creative opportunities. Throughout the week we were delighted to host our Spanish Exchange visitors, allowing students to practise their language skills and deepen their cultural understanding.

Year 10 took part in their MegaHub day, participating in purposeful sessions designed to build confidence, knowledge and key skills.

We also marked World Book Day with a series of fun-filled activities across the week, including creative contributions from students and staff, and an inspiring author visit from Radhika Sanghani. More information can be found below.

Warm wishes,
Mr C Beard

Student News

Several of our students achieved outstanding success at the German All-Level Championships in Düsseldorf, returning home with gold medals across their divisions. Bella’s team, Cruise Control, delivered a flawless Hit Zero routine to win one of the largest Level 2 divisions, facing 19 teams from across Europe. Phoebe and Imogen also secured gold despite major last‑minute setbacks, and their team earned a place at the European Summit in Portugal. Aimee likewise took gold in another highly competitive division of 19 teams. Stormers Elite travelled with 40 athletes, 3 coaches, and around 40 supporters, making this a true community effort. Their achievements have already been celebrated by local media, marking an inspiring weekend of teamwork, resilience, and exceptional performance.

World Book Day

Last week we celebrated World Book Day with a fantastic programme of book‑themed activities to help inspire a love of reading amongst our students. We began on Monday with our Bake Off competition and charity bake sale, showcasing an impressive array of imaginative, beautifully decorated and delicious bakes. Congratulations to Alexa, Ruth, and the team of Zara, Beatrice and Niranjanaa for their winning creations!

On Tuesday, students enjoyed a bookmark‑making workshop led by Tess, and Faatimah and Nahal organised a fun team quiz on Wednesday, full of clever questions.

World Book Day itself saw staff and students dressing up as beloved childhood characters, alongside a brilliant staff performance of The Day the Crayons Quit.

We rounded off the week with an inspiring visit from author Radhika Sanghani, whose talks, Q&A sessions and lunchtime book signing were a highlight for our Year 7 and 8 students.

Abandoned Building Warning – Lancaster

Police have seen a rise in reports of young people entering abandoned and derelict buildings in the Lancaster area.

Often shared online as “urban exploring,” these locations are extremely dangerous. Risks include unstable structures, exposed wiring, asbestos, sharp debris, open shafts, and fall hazards. Buildings can deteriorate without warning, turning curiosity into a serious emergency.

Social media posts often hide these dangers and may encourage risky behaviour. Trespassing is illegal and can have lasting consequences.

Parents and carers are urged to:

  • Know where your children are, especially during evenings and weekends
  • Talk to them about the real dangers of abandoned buildings
  • Discuss online pressure to take risks for views or attention

Preventing harm is always better than responding to it.

If you’re concerned about activity at abandoned properties, please report it via the appropriate non‑emergency channels.
