Weekly Update

2nd June 2025

Message from the Headteacher

I hope you had a relaxing half-term break and that our GCSE and A-level students are feeling refreshed as they continue with their exams. I would just like to remind parents and carers that although Year 11 students only need to come into school for exams, we have set aside rooms for them to revise in should they prefer to be in school rather than revise alone at home.

We look forward to meeting Year 12 parents and carers at Parents Evening on Thursday 5th June. This will be a good opportunity to discuss the recent mock exams and work experience placements.

I hope you have your trainers ready as it is time to register for our annual Summer Fun Run, which is open to all. The run will be in support of LGGS Sports Week and, as mentioned previously, we are also looking for volunteers. If you are free on Thursday 30th June at 7:00pm and are willing to help between 6.30- 8.30pm (in return for a chip butty) please email: s.roberts@lggs.lancs.sch.uk

Information about our Year 7 Admissions Process, including our Open Evening for Year 4 and Year 5 students and their parents, can be found on our website.

LGGS Eco Committee

Bring your own containers!
‘With the view to reducing the amount of single use packaging thrown away each day, we are asking members of the LGGS community (both students and staff) to bring an empty container from home each day if you buy food from the canteen. The canteen staff will place the food you buy into your own container to take away, rather than placing it in a disposable container. Please make sure that your container has your name on, and that you take it home each day to wash.
You may also consider bringing cutlery in too, and a hot drink cup with lid (if you regularly buy hot drinks). We are hoping that this initiative will greatly reduce the amount of packaging that ends up in landfill. Thank you.’
Eva, Farrah, May and Miranda
